In the face of spy allegations, China is calling for an end to „lies“ about network equipment supplier Huawei. There are some people who would make baseless allegations that Chinese technology companies are a security threat abroad, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said today in Beijing. This is trying to slow down the corporations.
Many states are extremely critical of the Group’s close ties to the Beijing government and accuse Huawei of encouraging espionage. On Friday, a Huawei employee had been arrested in Poland on suspicion of espionage. After that, a government official in Warsaw had said that Polish authorities would be able to dispense with the use of Huawei equipment in the future. Huawei has rejected the allegations.
States check network equipment
With regard to Poland, the Ministry spokeswoman called for fair conditions and a good environment for mutual investment and normal cooperation.
The incident in Poland could exacerbate tensions between China and other states. US government agencies are no longer allowed to use Huawei products. Australia and New Zealand have excluded Huawei from 5G mobile phone expansion. Other Western states are also considering whether they should continue to allow Huawei equipment in their telecom networks.
