Amid continuing tensions between China and the United States over the coronavirus pandemic and the trade war between the two countries, Beijing has demanded that Washington pay all outstanding debts to the United Nations. In principle, all defaulting UN member states would have to meet their payment obligations, according to a Chinese statement published yesterday at the UN headquarters in New York.

Only the USA is mentioned as the only country. China owed these to the UN more than two billion dollars (1.85 billion euros).

The US representation at the UN rejected the Chinese figures. The government in Beijing is only trying to „distract again from its bad handling of Covid-19,“ she said.

Trump accuses China of a CoV cover-up

US President Donald Trump only raised the tone in Thursday’s dispute with China over how to deal with the coronavirus pandemic and threatened to break off relations. He accuses Beijing of covering up the true extent of the CoV pandemic at the beginning, thereby allowing the disease to spread worldwide.

The new type of corona virus first appeared in the central Chinese metropolis of Wuhan at the end of 2019. The Chinese government rejects the US allegations and continues to state that it has provided the World Health Organization (WHO) with all information as soon as possible.
