Chinese Deputy UN Representative Wu Haitao on Tuesday called on the international community to step up cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
At a World Security Council meeting on Iraq, Wu Haitao said that the current global terrorist situation remains overwhelmingly large. The international community should unify the standards, take pragmatic measures and resolutely fight terrorism.
The terrorists, according to Wu, have killed and injured civilians in Iraq. This threatens the peace and security of Iraq and the world. China praises the efforts of the Iraqi government and the Iraqi people in the fight against terrorism. China also supports that Iraq will punish the terrorists under its legislation, Wu Haitao continued.
