Rather unusual, the streets of Addis Abeba on Thursday – everywhere Austrian flags and images of Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (VP). It was a working visit in a particularly friendly atmosphere, which Kurz completed at the beginning of his three-day trip to East Africa. First stop: Ethiopia.
Austria is one of the „oldest friends“ of Ethiopia, said Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. The short 42, the youngest head of government in Africa called Kurz several times as his „brother“ and spoke of a „historic visit“. So far, Africa has been ignored by Europe, criticized Abiy. In a word, he wants to change that he is a „great visionary“.
The three-day trip – today it’s off to Rwanda – serves to prepare for the Africa Summit on 18 December in Vienna and to strengthen trade relations.
