CDU followers according to survey for Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer
In the ARD „Germany Trend“, only two percent of CDU supporters speak out for Jens Spahn as the new party leader. The party benefits from the competition for the top.
According to the current German ARD trend, a majority still wants Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer to take over as CDU chair in December. 39 percent of respondents trust the secretary-general most likely to the post, it is said in the German trend of the ARD morning magazine. According to the poll, 48 percent of CDU supporters even opted for Kramp-Karrenbauer – two percentage points more than in the last survey in mid-November.
For Friedrich Merz, 26 percent of respondents would therefore decide, among the CDU supporters Merz comes to 35 percent. This is an increase of four percentage points. Significantly lower is the approval for Health Minister Jens Spahn. Among all interviewees Spahn comes to nine percent, of the CDU supporters, only two percent would choose him – ten percentage points less than in the survey two weeks ago.
CDU leader Angela Merkel had announced after the poor result of the CDU at the state election in Hesse in October, not to run again for the party presidency. Kramp-Karrenbauer, Merz and Spahn are considered the most promising candidates for the CDU chairmanship. Who takes over the post, decide the delegates of the Federal Party Congress on December 7 in Hamburg. On Friday, the last of eight regional conferences will take place in Berlin. CDU wins
55 percent of respondents rate the competition for the CDU chairmanship as positive. This is also reflected in the polls: If Sunday’s Bundestag election, the Union of CDU and CSU would therefore come to 28 percent of the vote – two percentage points more than two weeks ago. The SPD remains unchanged at 14 percent. The Greens would account for 21 percent of the vote, two percentage points less than two weeks ago. For the AfD, 15 percent of the respondents would choose nine for the FDP and eight for the left.
