CDU leader Angela Merkel and the SPD leader Andrea Nahles today present the results of retreats of their parties. The main aim of the German Christian Democrats is to prepare the party congress in December, on which Merkel will not return as chairman.The CDU wants to give the party base the chance to get to know the candidates for the Merkel succession. There should be up to ten regional conferences. Merkel wants to kick off at 12.00 in front of the media. The SPD is looking for ways to restart, Nahles is internally under pressure. She wants to speak at 14.00 clock.
