Cannabis is acting as strong as never before

Cannabis remains the most-consumed illicit drug among adolescents and adults in Germany – and it is becoming increasingly noticeable.

The drug content of cannabis flowers reaches a new high of 13.1 percent on average, as the Federal Government Drugs Commissioner, Marlene Mortler, reports. According to the new annual report of the German Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction, the active substance content of cocaine in street trade doubled since 2011 to 78.4 percent in 2017.

Mortler explicitly warns against cannabis use. „Anyone who kisses regularly at a young age will be harmed for their entire lives: memory, concentration and efficiency are diminishing, and depression and schizophrenia can be the result.“ Therefore, the prevention should be expanded nationwide with a focus on schools.

According to the calculations of the Federal Government, more than every fourth German consumes at least once in his life illegal drugs.
