At the first CDU regional conference, the candidates for the party presidency at the German Christian Democrats introduce themselves to the members in Lübeck this evening. Secretary-General Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, former parliamentary group leader Friedrich Merz and health minister Jens Spahn should present themselves at the beginning of the event, after which questions will be asked by the audience.
Invited are CDU members from Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, there are about 1,000 interested people expected. Until mid-November there will be seven more regional CDU conferences. The new party leader is elected in December at a party conference in Hamburg by the delegates.
