Around two weeks after the worst bloody deed in Canada’s history, the North American country has tightened its gun laws. As of today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that 1,500 rapid-firearm models were banned. „These weapons are designed for one purpose only: to kill the largest number of people in the shortest possible time,“ said Trudeau. „There is no use and no place for such weapons in Canada.“
The government currently estimates that there are around 100,000 such weapons owned by Canadians. You should have two years to safely remove them, including with a buyback program.
Around two weeks ago, a 51-year-old killed at least 22 people in the Atlantic Province of Nova Scotia. After around 12 hours of chase, which stretched over an area of around 100 kilometers, the man was put at a gas station in Enfield and killed by the police.
