The opposition Labor Party in the UK wants to reach a last-minute extension of Brexit beyond 31 October. Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn has imposed a leave of absence on his party’s September party, according to „Daily Mail,“ in an attempt to raise a motion of no confidence in Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
According to a secret paper, MPs who call for Britain to stay in the EU want to take Johnson by surprise and force her to postpone Brexit. A law designed to prohibit exit without agreement could be passed at the last minute. As a result, it could either come to new elections in the UK or a second referendum, the paper reported.

EU Commission: No meetings scheduled

The EU Commission currently has no Brexit meetings on its agenda. A spokesman said today in Brussels that, of course, the door of the Commission remains open, „we are ready“.In any event, the attitude of the Commission did not change for Brexit. There are no comments on press reports.

British are hoarding for fear of no-deal brexit

Fearing an unregulated Brexit, the British were already hoarding goods worth four billion British pounds (about 4.3 billion euros), according to a study. Almost one in five have begun to increase their supply of food, beverages or pharmaceuticals, said the financial services provider Premium Credit in London. 1,052 employed consumers were interviewed for the study. Those who hoard are mainly supplied with food (74 percent), followed by pharmaceutical products (50) and drinks (46). In the event of an EU exit without agreement many experts expect temporary supply shortages, triggered mainly by long waiting times for trucks at the borders at customs controls. Many companies also fear delivery bottlenecks.
