The „Brexit“ vote on Britain’s withdrawal from the EU will no longer take place this year. Prime Minister Theresa May announced that today. She had postponed the parliamentary vote indefinitely at the beginning of December, as a positive outcome would have been unlikely. Now, according to May’s office, a vote could be held by January 21st.
Because of the massive opposition to the agreement, the conservative prime minister is trying to get more concessions from EU partners. However, they refused at its summit meeting last Thursday, a tightening of the package. In London, in the face of the stalemate, demands are growing for a second referendum in which citizens should vote on May’s deal.
