British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is coming under increasing pressure from his own ranks because of his uncompromising Brexit program. Today, his younger brother Jo Johnson resigned as State Secretary and also resigned as a Member of Parliament for the Conservative Tories.“I’ve been torn between family loyalty and national interest over the past few months – it’s an irresolvable tension,“ said Jo Johnson, explaining the move on Twitter.

21 rebels thrown out of faction

The prime minister had previously thrown out 21 faction Tory rebels who had voted against his own government in the dispute over his Brexit course, including such prominent members as former and former Chancellor Kenneth Clarke and the grandson of war-preacher Winston Churchill, Nicholas Soames.

Boris Johnson wants to lead his country out of the EU on 31 October, if need be, without any agreement, should Brussels not agree to his demands for changes to the Brexit deal. Many conservative politicians consider that a serious mistake because of the incalculable consequences for the economy and many other areas of life.
