Australia plans to spend around € 300 million on climate change in the Pacific region by 2025, as Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced today, prior to a meeting with leaders from other Pacific states. Among other things, the money is to go into civil protection and the promotion of renewable energies. Projects are planned in Papua New Guinea as well as on Kiribati and the Solomon Islands.
On the occasion of a „Pacific Forum“ on the island of Tuvalu, Morrison assured the smaller states, which are particularly affected by climate change, support. „The Pacific is our home. We share it. We are a family of nations. „The neighbors criticize Australia for not doing enough to limit emissions of climate-damaging emissions.
