At least 11 people were killed in an attack on miners in Pakistan. Armed men are said to have kidnapped workers of the Shiite Hazara minority from a coal mining area in Baluchistan and then shot them, the police said. The attack took place overnight and three other miners were injured.
Baluchistan is considered to be a restless province, it borders Afghanistan and Iran. Hazara people live mainly in Afghanistan, but also in Pakistan. In the past, they have repeatedly been the target of Sunni attackers, including from the ranks of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist militia.
