Uniformed men arrested around 100 people at the Sunday demonstration in Belarus against ruler Alexander Lukashenko. The Ministry of the Interior in Minsk announced that the demonstrators had violated the ban on gathering. Meanwhile, the former beauty queen Olga Chischinkowa, who had been imprisoned for 42 days, was released today – the „Miss Belarus 2008“ said that she was unbroken and would not leave the country. The democracy movement had called for a “March of the People’s Tribunal”.

The aim was to draw attention again to the police violence against peaceful demonstrators. In addition, a list of the crimes against humanity committed on behalf of the state should be drawn up, it said. In individual parts of the city, like every Sunday, groups of people gathered with the white, red and white flag of the opposition to march for Lukashenko’s resignation.
„The whole world sees the protest“

„The whole world sees the protest,“ said opposition leader Svetlana Tichanovskaya in her exile in the EU. She called on her compatriots to continue collecting crimes committed by the officials so that they could be reported. Those responsible, she said, should be put out to the search via Interpol.

The lists are also important in order to obtain further sanctions from the European Union against Lukashenko’s regime, said Tichanovskaya. Thanks to EU punitive measures, including account blocking and travel bans against officials, it is already possible to throttle the flow of money to Lukashenko. 2021 will be the year in Belarus for the restoration of law and justice, she said.
