The Paris police have again cleared a refugee camp with more than 500 people. The residents of the tent city in the northeast of the French capital were today brought to makeshift shelters, as the prefecture announced. It was the 60th eviction of a Paris camp since the refugee crisis started in 2015.

The slum-like tent city was created on the edge of the Paris Motorway. The Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and relief organizations complain that the camps are vacated at short notice and then people land again on the streets a few weeks later due to a lack of permanent accommodation.

At the beginning of November, the French government announced up to 16,000 new places to accommodate refugees throughout the country.
