A worker at an Amazon warehouse in New York has died of coronavirus infection. The employee appeared for the last time on April 5, the online retail giant said yesterday.
None of the other workers he had been in contact with had been tested positive for the virus or had shown symptoms of the pathogen-induced lung disease Covid-19.
Serious allegations against Amazon
The group is accused of not adequately protecting its warehouse workers and suppliers from the new virus. Amazon employees have therefore been on strike several times in the past few weeks.
However, the company believes that in the Covid 19 cases among its workforce, the virus was not spread among employees, but infected outside the company.
Sales increased significantly
Amazon has invested „big“ in the protection of its employees against the corona virus, the US company assured. Amazon increased its sales significantly during the crisis. The pandemic has given online retail a boost. Amazon is therefore increasing its staff by 175,000 employees.
