In the past almost every child knew the „Pumuckl“. With cheeky sayings and funny strokes he conquered the hearts of television viewers and television viewers as well as the sometimes grumpy, but actually good-hearted master carpenter Eder, inimitably played by Gustl Bayrhammer. Now the red-haired goblin could gain new fame.

From Friday, the old series „Master Eder and his Pumuckl“ can be seen on Amazon Prime Video. By 2020, the digitally restored 52 episodes will again run on Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR), where the 1982 series became a cult with the Pumuckl voice of Hans Clarin. From April 15, the BR also launches the successor series „Pumuckl’s Adventure“, which was created in 1999 without the 1993 Bayrhammer.

Dispute over copyright

Cornelia Liebig-Marciniak is Managing Director of Pumuckl Media GmbH, in which, besides Barbara von Johnson, others are involved who have rights to Pumuckl. For many years there had been a dispute, including copyright. Therefore, the series has not been seen on television since 2012. Now they have agreed and in the GmbH together, says Liebig-Marciniak.

She and the others have big plans: a new television series is planned, including computer games and an exhibition. Amazon Prime Video is to make the goblin known again. „I very much wish that today’s generation of children are as enthusiastic about it as all the other children are,“ said Managing Director Christoph Schneide
