In Hong Kong, thousands of people protested yesterday for the tenth weekend in a row against Carrie Lam’s pecking government. The mostly peaceful rallies turned partly into violence.

Tear gas used

In the Sham Shui Po district, mainly young people gathered in front of a police station. The police used tear gas against them and tried in vain to disperse the crowd. In the nearby district of Cheung Sha Wan, some protesters threw cops at objects that reacted with the use of tear gas.

Arrival halls at the airport again occupied

More than a thousand black-clad demonstrators filled the arrival halls of the international airport in China’s Special Economic Zone for the third consecutive day, chanting: „Free Hong Kong!“. In the Victoria Park in the city center, young and elderly people, including families with children, gathered in the scorching heat. They accused the police of brutality against the demonstrators and demanded an independent investigation into the actions of the authorities.
