Provincial Council: Armed forces committed attack
According to Akhundzada’s statements, the air raid was perpetrated by foreign and Afghan forces. The Governor of Helmand said that the airstrike was carried out by „Afghan special forces“ saying that 14 Taliban fighters and six foreigners had been killed. Reports of killed civilians would be examined.
The Afghan armed forces have little capacity for airstrikes. Most such attacks are carried out by US forces in support of Afghan units. The US-led NATO mission Resolute Support did not want to comment on the attack.
