The AfD no longer wants to be publicly referred to as a „test case“. The party had therefore at the district court of Cologne criminal complaint against the German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) refunded, said today an AFD spokesman for the news agency AFP and thus confirmed a report by the „Süddeutsche Zeitung“ (Thursday edition).

The publication of the test case complicates „the exercise of partisan activity“ in „considerable extent,“ the newspaper quoted from the 97-page complaint of 4 February. Last month, the Office of the Protection of the Constitution had declared the AfD as a test case in which openly accessible sources were evaluated.

But because no formal decision had yet been taken, the constitutional protection lacked a legal basis for this „public-discrediting communication,“ argues the AFD in the application. For every repetition of this formulation, the BfV should pay a fine of up to € 10,000, according to the will of the AfD.
