Croatia: Dead body of missing person found in freezer

The body of a young woman missing for 19 years has been found in Croatia in the freezer in the home of a loved one. The police arrested a 45-year-old woman at the property in the village of Palovec, reported the news portal 24sata.hr in the night to today, citing a police spokesman in the district capital Cakovec.

According to a report from the portal Emedjimurje.rtl.hr, the person arrested is the older sister of the then 23-year-old woman, who disappeared in 2000. According to neighbors, had a power failure and the resulting odor development led to the discovery of cellophane wrapped body in the freezer.

The police spokesman did not respond to the cause of death. He only confirmed the finding of the body and the arrest of the 45-year-olds for an unspecified suspicion. The woman who had studied in Zagreb had disappeared in the summer of 2000. She was not reported missing until 2005. Before moving to Zagreb she had lived in the house of her sister, who is two years older.
