The Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei opens a center for IT security in March. This was announced by a senior representative of the company yesterday at a Chinese New Year reception in Brussels. „We hope that with the help of this center, we can show more transparently that we are part of the solution, not the problem,“ said Abraham Liu.
Liu dismissed allegations that the company uses its technology for spying purposes. These „unfounded and nonsensical claims“ are „shocking“ and „sometimes amusing.“ The question of security should be a „technical, not an ideological question“.
Huawei is „always ready to accept the review and proposals of all European governments, customers and partners,“ Liu added. The US and other countries accuse the group of being too close to the Chinese authorities and see Huawei as a danger to their cybersecurity.
