In the midst of the dispute over humanitarian aid for Venezuela, the South American authorities have blocked an automobile bridge to neighboring Colombia. The Tienditas bridge near the Colombian border town of Cucuta was closed with a tanker truck and containers, as Colombian media reported yesterday. The bridge was completed in 2016 but never put into operation. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro had already closed border crossings for vehicles in the summer of 2015.

The self-proclaimed Venezuelan Interim President Juan Guaido wants in the coming days to provide humanitarian aid for the needy people of Colombia to Venezuela. President Maduro refuses. He considers the supplies an excuse for a US military intervention in the country.
