The US entertainment giant Walt Disney suffered a profit slump at the end of the year. In the fiscal quarter to the end of December, the surplus fell over the previous year by more than a third to 2.8 billion dollars (2.5 billion euros), as the group announced yesterday after the US market close.
While last year Disney had made extraordinary profits thanks to a billion dollar special revenue thanks to the US tax reform and blockbusters such as „Star Wars: The Last Jedi“ and „Thor: Ragnarok“, the big movie hits did not happen this time.
This also impacted the Group’s sales, with a slight decline to $ 15.3 billion. Nevertheless, the numbers were well received by investors, with the stock initially up by around 2 percent. Analysts had expected stronger losses.
