The European launcher Ariane 5 has launched two telecoms satellites. Europe’s space loader lifted yesterday from the spaceport Kourou, as the operator Arianespace announced. It was the first rocket launch in Kourou this year. The spaceport is located in South American French Guiana.
Head of European rocket operator Arianespace, Stephane Israel, has announced that up to twelve missiles from the Ariane 5, Vega and Soyuz will be deployed from Kourou throughout the year. Last year, his company had launched eleven rockets, which together brought 21 satellites into space.
Arianespace is part of the ArianeGroup, which in turn is a joint venture between the European aviation group Airbus and the French engine manufacturer Safran.
