Few dates: lots of air in Trump’s calendar

The typical working day of US President Donald Trump does not seem to be characterized by hectic deadlines. In the morning, he usually has plenty of time for breakfast, tweeting and tracking news programs. It’s not until 11:00 or even later that the first official appointment is due. And in the afternoon, the US president seems to have room for more or less spontaneous activities.

60 percent of working time „executive time“

This usual daily routine is documented in Trump’s confidential calendar for the past three months, which the US website Axios published over the weekend. As a result, as much as 60 percent of the president’s working time has been classified as executive time. These are phases without structured processes and deadlines.

However, the impression that the President is not really working in these phases strongly rejected the White House. The published documents did not show „the hundreds of phone calls and meetings“ Trump was engaged in daily, his personal secretary Madeleine Westerhout told Twitter. This president works „harder for the American people than any in recent history,“ she asserted.

What a disastrous breach of trust to leak schedules. @RealDonaldTrump takes every day. This POTUS is working harder for the American people than anyone in recent history. https://t.co/n1HrxmCsiB

In Trump’s predecessors, however, the official appointments usually lined up tightly together. On the other hand, there were only two appointments in Trump’s official program for this Monday: the routine briefing by the secret services at 11.45, and lunch with Vice President Mike Pence at 12.45.
