US President Donald Trump has today denied the views of his intelligence services on Iran and North Korea. Despite intelligence concerns, he continues to see progress in nuclear negotiations with North Korea. The relationship between the US and North Korea is almost never, said Trump today on the short message service Twitter. He justified this by saying that the isolated country had stopped its missile and nuclear tests and released imprisoned US citizens. There is a „good chance“ of denuclearization.
The US intelligence coordinator Dan Coats, however, yesterday had questioned a complete nuclear disarmament of North Korea. „We currently expect North Korea to try to keep weapons of mass destruction and are unlikely to completely abandon their nuclear weapons and production capabilities,“ Coats told the US Senate Intelligence Committee.
Trump met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un last year. Kim emphasized his willingness to „complete denuclearization“. However, there were no concrete commitments until when North Korea wants to dismantle its nuclear arsenal and what could be the consideration of the United States.
„Secret services are naive“
Trump also expressed his criticism of Iran’s intelligence services. He contradicted them and imparted ignorance. „The secret service people seem to be extremely inactive and naive about the threat posed by Iran. They are wrong, „says Trump via Twitter.
Since leaving the nuclear deal with Iran, the country is different but still posing a potential threat. Trump cited Tehran’s missile testing. Mockingly, he added that the intelligence agents „might want to go back to school.“ He also reacted to a statement by Coats, according to which Iran is currently not working on a nuclear weapon.
Trump beats money for wall
In another Twitter message, Trump insisted that a new budget law would include money for the wall he required on the Mexican border. Negotiators of Democrats and Republicans wereted their time when their talks were not about a wall or a physical barrier, he said. Representatives of both parties wanted to meet for the first time today for negotiations on border security.
