The German government is showing readiness to accept some of the 47 people on board the „Sea-Watch 3“ rescue vessel as part of a European redistribution. According to the Italian news agency ANSA, Berlin is working on a „fast solution“ to landing, according to German government circles.

However, the prerequisite for receiving people from this ship in Germany was „a balanced distribution between different EU member states“. The Dutch government, on the other hand, reiterated its refusal to accept persons.

Although the rescue vessel with Dutch flag on the way, the government in The Hague was not responsible for the ship and for the people on board, it said. The Netherlands responded to Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini, who again called for the reception of asylum seekers by Germany or the Netherlands.
