After the devastating mudslide of an iron ore mine in Brazil, the experts fear another dam break. Mine company Vale sounded the alarm today after measurements indicated an increase in water level at another dam in the facility.

The fire brigade evacuated several villages in the region, around 24,000 people are currently being brought to safety.

In the mining complex near the town of Brumadinho in eastern Brazil, the dam of a retention basin was broken on Friday. A huge mudslide covered the mine and surrounding homes. To date, 37 bodies have been recovered, about 250 people are missing. The authorities have little hope for more survivors. Due to the second threatening dam break the search for buried people was stopped for the time being.
