Hassan Nasrallah, head of the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, yesterday warned Israel against further attacks in Syria. „Make no misjudgment and do not lead the region into a war or a major conflict,“ Nasrallah said in an interview with television channel Al-Mayadeen. He addressed himself directly to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Nasrallah warned that „the decision of the Syrian leadership and the Axis of Resistance to deal with Israeli aggression at any time could be taken at any time“. The Shiite Hezbollah militia is supporting the Syrian ruler Bashar al-Assad together with Tehran in the Syrian conflict.
Israel wants to prevent a growing influence of its archenemy Iran in neighboring Syria. The Israeli army reported Monday that it had bombed warehouses belonging to the Al Quds forces of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards at Damascus airport in retaliation for an alleged Iranian missile strike on Israel. In addition, ammunition storage, a training camp and a secret service have been attacked. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 21 people were killed, most of them Iranians.
