Trump’s speech on the state of the nation only after Shutdown

US President Donald Trump wants to hold the traditional speech on the state of the nation only after the end of the government shutdown (Shutdown). „I’ll talk when the shutdown is over,“ Trump wrote on Twitter that night. Opposition leader Nancy Pelosi had previously unloaded him from Congress in her capacity as parliamentary president.

The speech was to be held Tuesday in the session hall of the House of Representatives before the deputies and senators. After the expulsion by Pelosi Trump first considered holding the speech in another place.

But now he acknowledged that there is no place „that can match the history, tradition and importance of the House of Representatives“. He had decided therefore for a shift. „I’m looking forward to holding a ‚great‘ speech on the state of the nation in the near future,“ said Trump.
