The search for a tariff solution for the approximately 23,000 employees of the private airport security services in Germany is still without result. Both sides would have spoken in Berlin today about compromise options, said a spokeswoman for the employer. The union ver.di said only that there was no new intermediate status.

After a month’s break and several warning strikes ver.di and the German Association of Aviation Security Companies (BDLS) met again at the negotiating table for the fifth round. Ver.di demands significantly more money for security personnel. Thus, the hourly wage for the employees at the passenger control from about 17 euros to 20 euros. The place of regional collective agreements is to be concluded nationwide.
Also Austria flights affected

With the warning strikes on January 7 in Berlin and on January 15 at eight other German airports ver.di increased the pressure on employers to submit a higher tariff offer. Hundreds of flights were canceled, estimated that 200,000 passengers could not make their journey. Austria flights were also affected.

According to the union, the German Association of Aviation Security Companies had offered two increases of 2.0 percent each in December for a two-year contract period. That was „not our final offer,“ said a federation spokeswoman before the negotiation round.
