The Taliban have rejected media reports of new peace talks with US officials in Pakistan. There will be no meeting with US Special Envoy Zalmay Khalilzad in Islamabad, a spokesman for the Afghan Islamists said today.
Pakistani media had reported similar plans yesterday following a meeting between Khalilzad and Prime Minister Imran Khan. The US envoy arrived in Islamabad on Thursday. The talks between the US and the Taliban are faltering. Direct negotiations with the Afghan government reject the Islamists.
