Murder-accused New York millionaire Robert Durst is scheduled to be tried in California in September. The lawsuit against the 75-year-old is scheduled for September 3 before the Superior Court in Los Angeles, as a court spokeswoman told dpa yesterday. Thirst is accused of killing his longtime acquaintance Susan Berman in California in 2000.
The rich real estate has often rejected the allegations, in November last he pleaded not guilty. Durst was arrested in New Orleans in March 2015, and later delivered to California. He has since been in custody.
Berman was shot dead in December 2000 in her Los Angeles apartment. The two knew each other since college years in the 60s. The prosecution suggests that Durst wanted to get her out of the way because Berman could have acted as a possible witness in the case of his missing wife.
The millionaire is associated with three deaths: in early 1982, Durst’s wife Kathie disappeared without a trace, 18 years later Berman was shot dead. In 2001, body parts were found by Durst’s neighbors in Texas. Durst came to court in the last case, but defended himself with self-defense. He was then acquitted of murder charges.
