„White supremacy“: Sharp criticism of US Representative

The Republican Party in the US is currently criticized for racist incidents. Their only black senator, Tim Scott of South Carolina, went to court yesterday with his party colleague, Steve King of Iowa.

He had defended white supremacy in an interview with The New York Times and asked when words such as „white nationalist“ or „western civilization“ in the US were offensive.

„Dangerous“ and „wrong“

Scott responded in a column: „When people with similar opinions to those of King open their mouths, they hurt not only the Republican Party, but also the nation as a whole.“ Some in the party questioned why Republicans were constantly against racism would be accused. This comes from „our silence“ to such statements, Scott wrote in the Washington Post.

Representative Republican minority leader Kevin McCarthy said on Kings‘ comments that they „have no place in our society.“ They are „dangerous“ and „wrong“.

Meanwhile, the campaign of some Republicans in Texas, who wanted to relieve a Muslim official because of his religion of his party costs, failed. The Dallas Tarrant County party leadership decided that surgeon Shahid Schafi will remain vice president of the local Republicans. A group called „Protect Texas“ had called for Shafi’s recall since last July.
