US President Donald Trump has responded angrily to a report that the federal FBI police have investigated him after the release of its chief James Comey. The
„The New York Times“ previously reported that the FBI investigated Comey’s dismissal in May 2017, whether Trump knowingly or unknowingly worked for Russia and against US interests.
Attack on „New York Times“
Wow, I just learned from the failing New York Times that the FBI’s corrupt ex-executives (…) opened an investigation against me, for no reason and no evidence, after I fired the lying James Comey, a total Felt! „Trump wrote on Twitter.
In its report, the newspaper relied on former federal police officers and unnamed persons familiar with the investigation. Concern over Trump’s behavior had been so great in the days following Comey’s release that they had taken that step, the report said. Among other things, the purpose of the investigation was to assess whether his actions represented a potential threat to national security. That would have experts of the counterintelligence examined.
For Trump a „witch hunt“
The dismissal Comeys had meant that the Ministry of Justice began the special investigator Robert Mueller. He took over the investigation into whether there were collusion between the Trump camp and Russian representatives in the alleged Russian influence on the US presidential election in 2016. Trump has repeatedly described the investigation as a „witch hunt“.
