Croatia has abandoned the plan to buy twelve fighter jets from Israel because Israel can not guarantee US approval of the deal. This was announced by the Croatian government via Twitter last night.
The NATO country wanted to buy the used aircraft of the US-developed type F-16 for 500 million US dollars (440 million euros). Israel had equipped the single-jet fighter planes with more modern electronics. Your resale is subject to US Government approval. However, the US Congress has objected to the sale to Croatia because of the electronic upgrade.
However, Croatia did not want to give up Israeli electronics. As an argument is called, it would be too expensive to put the aircraft back to its original state and then bring back to the state of the art. The F-16 was designed to replace Soviet-made MiG-21 aircraft.
