British Prime Minister Theresa May has suffered another setback in parliament for her Brexit course. The House of Commons voted yesterday with 308 to 297 votes that if the Brexit deal with the EU falls through Parliament on Tuesday, the government must disclose its plans for further action within three days of the meeting.
The vote had been won by rebels from May’s conservative party. Previously, MEPs had already voted in favor of an amendment to the tax code that restricts the powers of the government in the event of a hard Brexit.
Parliament’s decisive vote on the deal with the EU is scheduled for Tuesday. In the case of Mays defeat, opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn wants to call for new elections. „If the government can not pass its most important legislation, there must be a parliamentary election as soon as possible,“ says a Laboratory speech by the Chief Executive.
