Bernd Merbitz will leave office in the next few weeks, and will be officially resigned from his post as Leipzig police chief, but Bernd Merbitz does not retire to the old part, but Bernd Merbitz wants to once again start into a new career in Saxon politics.
Bernd Merbitz is running for the CDU Saxony for the Saxon state parliament. Actually, Merbitz wanted that in Leipzig, because that’s where Bernd Merbitz has known for years.
Here his reputation would certainly have helped him to move his project into the Saxon state parliament, then implement it.
Only, Merbitz had probably made the bill without the CDU in Leipzig. Here there was no constituency that would have been free for Merbitz or where another candidate would have been willing to waive in favor of Bernd Merbitz on the candidacy.
As an alternate constituency then only the district of North Saxony remained. Here Merbitz runs together with Sebastian Gemkow, for the Saxon state parliament. Gemkow is currently Minister of Justice in Saxony, but rather „colorless“ and with little election campaign experience.
Merbitz, as the CDU Saxony believes, is the right candidate to keep the AFD’s share of the vote in Saxony from growing, because Merbitz is considered a „Law and Order“ man.
However, Bernd Merbitz’s achievements in this area are limited, because Merbitz did not get a grip on many security problems during his term as Leipzig police chief. Drugs are one of them, but most of all, the „railroad problem“ has not got Merbitz under control over the years.
One must therefore have great doubts that Merbitz is really the right man to bring the Saxon citizens more security or guarantee.
However, one can be curious about Bernd Merbitz’s campaign appearances, because until now Bernd Merbitz has not distinguished himself as a great speaker.
Incidentally, the following cities and municipalities belong to Bernd Merbitz constituency:
Arzberg, Beilrode, city Belgern-Schildau, Cavertitz, city Dahlen, Dreiheide, Liebschützberg, city Mügeln, Naundorf, city Oschatz, city Torgau, Wermsdorf.
Here Merbitz will certainly have his election appearances, and then make campaign, against the AfD.
