The online retailer Amazon has become the most valuable listed company in the world for the first time. The stock of the US group rose yesterday by 3.44 percent, Amazon’s market value increased to 797 billion dollars (about 696 billion euros). The company outstripped the previous leader Microsoft.
The US software giant had acquired the title as the most valuable company only in late November by the US technology group Apple, which is in the current ranking only in fourth place.
The list of the world’s most valuable companies in terms of stock market value is consistently led by US companies in the high-tech and Internet industries. On Amazon follows Microsoft with a value of $ 783 billion. Behind it are the Google parent company Alphabet ($ 748 billion) and Apple ($ 702 billion).
