World Bank President Kim resigns

World Bank President Jim Yong Kim stops prematurely. This was confirmed by the World Bank today. Insiders had previously said that the Americans will resign to February 1, 2019. He had only started on July 1, 2017, his second term, which should last until 2022 middle. Reasons for the step were initially not mentioned.

His first term Kim had started in 2012 as successor to Robert Zoellick. Since the founding of the World Bank after the Second World War, the head office of the Washington-based house has traditionally been occupied by the US. One of the tasks of the institute is poverty reduction.

The sister organization, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), however, is usually headed by a European, currently by the French Christine Lagarde.
