
A 90-year-old track cyclist has to hand over his US championship title because of a positive doping test. Also his world record in the pursuit was Carl Grove withdrawn, as the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced.
Grove had won the race in his age group in a world record time at the US Championships in Breinigsville in July – but he was also the only rider in the 90-94 age group. In a doping test after the race, the anabolic steroid epitrenbolone was detected in Grove’s urine.
As the USADA further announced, but it can be assumed that Grove the prohibited substance on the evening before the competition when eating contaminated meat to have taken. The 90-year-old was therefore not locked.
