Yogi calls Bulandshahr violence a conspiracy

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday described the Bulandshahr violence, triggered by alleged cow slaughter, as a “political conspiracy” by those who had lost ground in the state. “Those who wanted to create anarchy… The intentions of those who instigated riots after cow slaughter have been foiled,” he claimed.

He was speaking to the media after the Vidhan Sabha was adjourned following an uproar by the Opposition that demanded a discussion on law and order, particularly the violence in Bulandshahr.

The day’s proceedings in both Houses of the state legislature were marred by sloganeering by the Samajwadi Party and the Congress over various issues, including the farmers’ plight. “Those who are cowards and not in a position to face a direct fight are embracing each other, seeing that their political ground is receding… the state government will not allow any such conspiracy and will deal with it sternly,” an unapologetic CM said.

Meanwhile, the Bulandshahr SSP, Prabhakar Chaudhary, announced the arrest of three men — Nadeem, Raees and Kaala — for their alleged role in the December 3 cow slaughter. A vehicle and a licensed weapon were seized from them. The three were not named in the earlier FIR filed in the case.

The local Bajrang Dal leader, Yogesh Raj, among the 27 named in the FIR, continues to evade arrest.

The Noida unit of the Special Task Force has arrested two more persons, 21-year-old Sachin Singh alias Cobra and 19-year-old Johnny Chaudhary, for their role in the violence that erupted after a cow carcass was found in the area. The violence resulted in the death of Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and a local youth.
