A total of 12 judokas competed in the Guangzhou Masters 2018 representing Mongolia, and won 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
On the first day of the Masters 2018, where the year’s top 16 judokas of each weight class are invited to compete, State Honored Sportsman D.Amartuvshin and IM D.Altansukh won 2 bronze medals in their respective weight classes, 60 kg and 66 kg. On the last day of the tournament, in the men’s -100 kg, while for his first match L.Otgonbaatar won by default, he came out victorious over Niyaz Ilyasov of Russia and Kentaro Iida of Japan in his second and third matches. He then won his semi-finals match against Ramadan Darwish of Egypt, qualifying for the silver medal. For the finals, he was matched against Varlam Liparteliani of Georgia, but due to his injuries, he was unable to set foot on the tatami mat.
As for the other judokas, G.Odbayar and M.Urantsetseg was ranked 5th in the men’s 73 kg and women’s 48 kg respectively, while in men’s 66 kg, G.Kherlen and in women’s 57 kg D.Sumiya and in 63 kg B.Mungunchimeg came out 7th in the tournament. G.Boldbaatar, D.Tsogtbaatar and U.Duurenbayar were unable to come out of the group stage.
