Twenty-two people were injured when a coach crashed into a construction site vehicle in Bavaria. The 51-year-old driver of the coach and three people in the construction vehicle were severely injured, the police said yesterday evening. Two people were trapped in the construction vehicle and had to be released.
Most other participants had suffered minor injuries, it was said. A person had to be treated as a result of the accident because of an epileptic seizure.
The construction vehicle was advised from previously unexplained cause on a main road in the oncoming traffic and there collided with the bus. According to the fire department, the total of 36 passengers in the bus was a group from the Hessian Odenwaldkreis, which was traveling for a day trip to the neighboring Bavarian district of Aschaffenburg.
Rescue workers from Bavaria and Hesse were involved in the large-scale deployment. The main road was closed in both directions for the duration of the recovery work.
