Die administration of US President Donald Trump has received the backing of the Justice for parts of their restrictive migration policies. Federal Judge Laurel Beeler has largely dismissed a lawsuit against the halting of a program aimed at bringing together hundreds of underage migrants from Central America and their relatives in the United States. The Trump government has justified their step adequately informed Beeler on Monday.
The group International Refugee Assistance Project, which represents the plaintiffs, initially did not comment. These had argued that stopping the program from the era of Trump’s predecessor Barack Obama was arbitrary and a violation of the US Constitution.
The initiative had allowed legal-resident parents in the US to petition their children or other relatives from Honduras, Guatemala or El Salvador. Trump stopped the program in August 2017, already approved entry requests for nearly 2700 people were withdrawn.
