British circumnavigator Susie Goodall has been rescued from the coast of Chilean Cape Hoorn two days after her yacht capsized in the Pacific. The communicated the Chilean Coast Guard on Friday on Twitter. „On the ship !!!“, was also on the Twitter account of the 29-year-olds read.
According to a report by the British broadcaster BBC Goodall was taken in stormy weather conditions and high waves from a cargo ship. The crew of the „Tian Fu“ had lifted her with a crane on board. The ship had therefore been diverted on its way from China to Argentina for the rescue of the young woman.
Goodall had participated in the Golden Globe as a solosegler when their boat capsized Wednesday and lost its mast 2000 miles west of Cape Horn. Since then, the yacht drifted on the waves. Until her accident, she was in fourth place of the boat race.
