In Germany, a long and large-scale power outage could lead to serious shortages of supply.

This emerges from an internal paper of the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance, of which the newspapers of the Funke media group report. In it, the authority lists serious consequences. In addition to heaters, elevators and light would be affected, for example, the cooling in supermarkets. Most gas stations could no longer issue fuel. Within hours, phones and the Internet could no longer be used. You would not be able to get any more cash. Also, the medical care would be maintained only for a short time. After 24 hours, there would be extensive restrictions in hospitals and water supply.

According to the BBK paper, Germany’s power supply is basically very secure. Nevertheless, it could lead to long-lasting and large-scale power outages, such as severe natural disasters, but also by cyber attacks and physical attacks on utilities.
