In total, about 4400 people were accommodated there, authorities said. The newly arrived migrants had left on Tuesday in the city of Mexicali, about 180 kilometers away, to Tijuana. They are part of the so-called migrant caravan that left Honduras more than a month ago.

But not all Mexicans have an understanding for this: For in the north of the country many people are stuck in their search for asylum in the US – often for months, without a job, without their own accommodation, depending on the help of the state.
